Mr. Machine is wound with a giant key at the back. When wound, he walks, swinging his arms. He tilts his head back and forth and repeatedly rings a bell mounted on his front. After every few steps he emits a mechanical “Ah!”, as if to speak. The first edition of these toys were able to be taken apart and reassembled. When reissued in 1978 it no longer came apart, instead, it whistled the tune “This Old Man”.
